hooks & whereabouts

ALL ALONE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT?
common, any theme, walkup
Xembre is often standoffish and elusive, making first impressions look fairly bad on her behalf. This can make it somewhat difficult to form connections with, but catching her in her element- out in the wilds, often either on a hunt or finishing an escort contract- can prompt conversational initiative unfound in other places. Xembre knows the layout of the Black Shroud decently, La Noscea better and fresher, and Thanalan to a lesser but general degree. If one is on the hunt for game, or comes across her wanting a purpose, she'll enlist them or offer to help with the quarry.I KNOW A PLACE TO DISAPPEAR
rare, often darker themes, discuss first
After an event that had two adventurers become hunted wrongly by the States, Xembre became a habitual planner for anyone who came to her asking for a 'way' out of there. Whether seeking sanctum in Eorzea and setting them up with the Adventurer's Guild with appropriate references or finding them a grayzone to hide in while things simmer down, this has been the riskiest thing she's done for a long time- and she tries to keep it only at such. With her knowledge of trade routes and quiet, hidden places, she'll triangulate as best as she can- a place to flee to.
She is quiet about this service, and shies at direct confrontation. Xembre Adrias can't offer much. If someone comes asking, and they come with referral, she'll do what she can.
EYES ON YOU
common, any themes, discuss first
Her travels gave her a sharper tongue, and her ears are trained on particular words. While Ishgardian dialect slipped in one ear and out the other, Xembre picked up Hingan to a decent degree, and Doman to a modest but barely affable point. All in all, she knows when someone's mad at her, but may need compromise to reach that language barrier.
Though, that to be said, if someone starts gesturing in Eorzean Sign Language, they'll become the complete object of her bright and burning gaze. Xembre communicates fluently in ESL, and often ends up being used as a translator for people who can only communicate in such. (OOC note: "[___]" brackets are often used for signing, especially if it's followed up by emotes of her gesturing. This is to save up space, and also to save my brain from trying to describe a billion things at once. I do not know ASL in IRL, besides a few key phrases! Let me know if there is anything I can improve on for quality's sake.)
IDIOT DOOM SPIRAL
rare, often dark themes, discuss + well known
Lately, a normally subdued and carefully articulated streak has become more common in concerns to Xembre Adrias. Rash decisions and stupid, uncharacteristic recklessness can turn a quiet and often shy individual into a more demanding and emotional mess of an adventurer. For the well-loved clothing and the lack of jewelrey she wears, she acts like she's sitting on a mountain of cash by buying expensive and weird drinks, attempting to call rounds for people, enquiring about services she's clearly not interested in- and is trying to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Rumors surround this particular hook- she's looking for someone to take her house. That, and all the ghosts with it
Scratch that-
Someone solved the ghost problem, sort of. She still has some hard-to-manage wanderlust, though.

ONE HELL OF A CHEF
common, slice of life mainly, walkup/discuss
Having joined the Adventurer's Guild and tuned deeply into the grapevine, Xembre apprenticed at the Bismarck as a culinarian for two years, deeming herself quite good! She has rampant curiosity for new recipes, and knowledge and capabilities to gather many hard-to-import ingredients on her own. One'd recommend the qualities as well-fitting for a chef, however the Hyur found herself placed on waiting duty and only such. Then she met an Elezen who owned a teashop and apothecary, and the rest is history.
Xembre can be found in the Higanbana Apothecary teashop on Sundays, preparing meals for the customers there. Her active shift only runs for two hours, but Xembre's more than welcome to suggesting dishes, complimenting teas, and occasionally trying new recipes to valued customers' behests... Whether it turns out well? It's anyone's guess. Her ego when it comes to cooking comes out often, though, and if someone needs a kitchen manager for the night, Xembre's one to volunteer.
SHAPES OF COLOR
common, any theme, discussion required
Aethersight is a beautiful thing sometimes. Colors shift and glow and spread into each other, or leak, crack, evade, and stain deep into the element they divulge. While she is no expert in arcane arts, Xembre can see what she describes as a 'watercolor' effect around the person, making up a sort of aura around the person. Strong or outlandish aether splashes really catch her attention and sometimes it's difficult to take her eyes off it. If one really catches her offguard and it looks like it's going to be a problem, that's when she'll come and approach. She cannot see these colors with her glasses on, as a side note, as some auras can be blinding.
Another note: Xembre cannot see her own aether. But any who are attuned can tell it is Umbral-leaning, with an element focus of lightning. It is very still despite the lightning attribute, noteworthy of her inability to conduct aether past teleportation. Key notes: often colored soft mauves and cloudy grays, streaking through with cracks of silver or black. Resembles stormhead clouds. HEAVILY levin aspected.
(OOC note: I'll always ask about what the aether looks like in tells, if it's brought up or a plot point! Usually they look like Rorschach watercolors, and can be like... any color you deem fitting. Also completely fine if you don't really want to involve that in plot things, just let me know your thoughts.)uncommonly mentioned skills:
- quite good at sketching
- contortionist?
- fantastic swimmer
- somehow, still very durable
- very good navigator

OOC: Player & NotesA constant WIP.

Hello! My name is Red. My pronouns are she/he/they and I'm Australian (making my timezone AEST). I've been roleplaying for a decade now, and have been doing so on FFXIV for about a year and a half now. Thanks for checking out my carrd for Xembre- she's my lifeline and longest existing OC. Just a few notes about her and I as a footnote on OOC and IC interactions.I don't give out my discord ID to people I don't know- sorry about this, it's a timezone thing. I suck at keeping social stamina up, but if we click after some time and we aren't in a mutual server, we can talk about exchanging tags! My twitter is currently locked- don't necessarily want to unlock now- but if you wanna see funny art and goofy gposes that aren't posted on the gallery, please let me know and I'll send you the url! I am a NSFW artist and draw it quite a bit on there, so another note is that whether you, the player, or your character, is under the age of 18? Please don't interact with me! I don't want to deal with that, I'm not interested. Some notes about writing IC:
- Para/mirror writing: For XIV, I try not to go past two log lengths- especially in venues. I do try and match partners, though! My average is 2-3 paragraphs on Discord/whatever media there is, though,I can go longer. Just need more time!
- My hours suck: Again, I'm Australian, meaning I often RP on days off and during sunlight hours. If I have to cancel something or cut an encounter short... I'm sorry, but it happens more than I'd like. Because of this, though, I don't mind timebubbling encounters and continuing them in DMs or in servers, if we have those together! I have one RP that started in March '23, and it's still ongoing...
- Dark themes: Xembre can be a little hater sometimes. That's one of them. But if you have specific triggers pertaining to graphic descriptions of heavy scarring and bodily traumas, death-related ideations, etc... this might be the point where you step back and let me know so I can soften it down a little bit, or avoid the subject. Xembre is heavily scarred, but keeps herself covered anyway.
- I do have a bit of roleplay anxiety (sort of settling it out), so if I'm quiet during group events- I'm just reading the room, or taking my time responding.

Some things I am not interested playing in IC are:
- Character death: you can beat her up if she's mean, but any unprompted... attempts to just end her? without asking beforehand? a little weird, dude.
- Casual ERP: one night stands and whatever tourists to the Crystal DC are hunting after are off the table. she's not your type, anyway! and you're not hers. While I don't mind ERP with people I'm close to, it's not something that happens all the time, and it's not the goal for what I write.
-Again- any mature content involving minors/minor-themed: I don't want that on my ass! It's nasty. Go back to 4chan or something.
-Drug RP: I think it's understandable. I really have no interest in playing out drug-related themes in character. Alcohol is fine, but Xembre doesn't do anything past that, and I don't really want to change that. That's out of my comfort zone! Fine with mentions, though, or background/worldbuilding occurrences.
HARD LIMITS & EXTRA FOREMENTIONI don't RP with F+/Futanari characters, sfw or otherwise. Both terms are nasty, and horribly demeaning to transgender women.
If you use the terms futa/nari or F+ to describe your character's gender identity, I really have no interest in approaching you for RP.

ADDRESS BOOK

A small address book from where Xembre often seeks out company, or just a nice atmosphere to enjoy. Ever-growing, be sure to check back here often for venues.HIGANBANA APOTHECARY
Mateus| Mist Ward 5, Top Division Plot 20
Higanbana Apothecary and Cafe is a little La Noscean-based venue, sitting in the middle of the Mist and ran by Eden Tsurugi and his husband. Far Eastern in theme and inventory, the small store boasts a formidable group of culinarians and alchemists, even boasting an infirmary now for vaccinations and hormone replacement shots. The quaint teashop's atmosphere tends to attract many adventurers to its doorstep...resources: https://hgbn-fc.carrd.co/ALBATROSS AVENUE
Mateus| Mist Ward 14, Wing 1 Room 63
Albatross Avenue was once a storeroom, then was a home for two adventurers. Nowadays though, Albatross Avenue stands solitary as its original purpose, though the renovated furnishings keep a reminder of previous ambitions. Currently being used as a hobby space, containing a vivarium setup and a large, manicured Highlands tank. Frequently uses for contractwork.LASHING TIDES
Mateus| Mist Ward 28, Plot 23
Lashing Tides is the quiet, still, and suspiciously lush cottage sitting amidst the plots in the Mist. This is Xembre's private, and incredibly revered space. The top floor is fitted for general living purposes with a walk-in pantry and fully-stocked kitchen, then downstairs turned into a darklit library with the rush of running water trickling down a large and intricate waterfeature.
There are a lot of unusual features about the apartment, but it's clear it's being used more as a base of operations than an actual home nowadays. Even the gloriously dark and inviting bathtub is seldom touched.

THE DUNGEON MANUALS are manuals written by Xembre Adrias in the form of journal entries, instructions, and sketches. There is a small chance adventurers come across her writings in the overworld, though they're less verbose and are incredibly boring. Just general 'don't do this' pamhlets and boring leaflets.
The REAL dungeon manuals, unfortunately, are still being edited by the Eorzean Adventurer's Guild.
Censorships of overshared topics, redacting seemingly irrelevant information, all those things- though, the unedited, unofficial manuals are sometimes left in unusual places for adventurers to pick up.
